How to Burn Blu-ray Discs in Windows10 using MediaStation Blu-ray Writer

Microsoft Windows 10 has included the ability to burn CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs directly from Windows File Explorer.  This article explains how to use Windows File Explorer to burn data to a Blu-ray Disc.
Alternatively, you can also use Buffalo MediaStation included CyberLink Power2Go software to burn discs. Please refer to the CyberLink Power2Go manual for details.

Note1:  If creating/formatting a data disc using CyberLink Power2Go then you will not be able to append more data using the Windows File Explorer, and vice versa.
Note2:  The following disc burning demonstration is using Windows 10 Pro 21H1.

1. Place a recordable disc in the MediaStation drive of your computer.
2. Open Windows File Explorer, and then double-click the BD-RE drive (Buffalo MediaStation) containing the recordable disc.
3. Two different options for burning a disc:

Like a USB flash drive (Live File System):
Allows you to keep the disc in an open state, which will allow more files to be added in the future.

A. In the Disc title field, type a name for this disc.
B. Click to select "Like a USB flash drive", and then click "Next".
C. Disc will begin formatting and might take several minutes to complete.

D. From Windows File Explorer, browse to the files or folders you want to burn, and then drag them into the empty disc folder or the BD-RE drive icon.
E. After copying the files and folders, you might need to close the disc session before you can use it in other computers and devices. Closing discs consumes 20MB of disc space and can take several minutes.

By default, Windows closes your disc automatically when it is ejected. To close a disc manually:
From Windows File Explorer, right-click the BD-RE drive icon, and then click "Close session".

Note1: After you close a disc session, you can still add additional files to the disc, but you must close each additional session to be able to use the disc on another computer.
Note2: Rewritable discs will have the “Erase this disc” option instead of “Close session”

Note3: Some 3rd party programs might Finalize your disc instead of closing the current session. You can't add any additional files to a disc that has been finalized.

With a CD/DVD player (Mastered):
Allows you to burn files to the disc and then closes the disc to allow it to be read by most computers and newer CD, DVD, and Blu-ray Disc players.

A. In the Disc title field, type a name for this disc.
B. Click to select "With a CD/DVD player", and then click "Next".
C. Disc will begin formatting and might take several minutes to complete.
D. Browse to the files or folders you want to burn using File Explorer, and then drag them into the empty disc folder or to the BD-RE drive icon.
E. On the File Explorer Drive Tools toolbar, click “Finish burning”

Or right click on the BD-RE drive icon from File explorer then click “Burn to disc”

F. Change the Disc title as desired then click "Next".

G. Wait for the disc burning process to complete.

After burning complete, disc will be ejected automatically.

You can still burn additional files to the disc if it still has any disc space left after the burning. Just insert the disc again and start from step D.
